At La Martiniere Girls’ College, it is our strong belief that qualities like responsibility towards oneself and society should be fostered in young hearts. Our constant endeavour is to sensitise the girls to the needs of others around them and strive for the betterment of the society. The country is made up of young people and our future is safe in the hands of our children.
To strengthen this belief, we support GOONJ, an NGO headed by Mr. Anshu Gupta. Goonj aims at developing the faith people have in themselves. The collection drive ‘Joy of Giving Week’, is aimed, not at charity, but to encourage self-help groups to improve the living conditions of people all over the country.
The ‘Vastra Samman’ campaign brings in a lot of unused or no longer used commodities from the homes of our students. These are reused and recycled by the GOONJ team. The school has been the collection centre for GOONJ for the past two years and has had an overwhelming response to the campaigns.
At La Martiniere Girls’, we do precisely what John.F.Kennedy had said, “Ask not what your country has done for you. Ask what you have done for your country.” |
