Bharatnatyam, the classical dance form, from the south, is taught in the 'Kalkshatra Gharaana' by a trained teacher.
Lessons for Classes 1-8 are held twice a week, and the students are taught according to the Bhatkhande syllabus, which is followed by all major dance schools in India.
Lessons for classes 9-12 are held once a week, in which the students are taught according to the 'Guru-shishya parampara'; meaning that the students learn from the 'guru' as well as from each other. The senior students are taught singing, playing the 'Tatakadi' and taking dance classes as well.
The Bharatnatyam dance performace is, without fail, one of the best items in the annual concert.
